Some Tips:
Make sure to not overheat it because it can burn easily
The ingredients have two separate recipes that you can use. Brown sugar gives it more of a deeper taste.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup half & half
- 4 TBSP butter
- Salt
- 1 TBSP vanilla
- -----------------------------
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 TBSP water
- 1/8 TSP cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 TBSP butter
- 1/2 TSP salt
DIRECTIONS:
- Put all ingredients except vanilla into a saucepan over medium heat
- Whisk gently for 5-7 minutes until it thickens
- Add in the vanilla and cook another minute to thicken
- Turn off heat and let it cool then store into a jar
- Place the sugar, water, and tartar into a saucepan over low heat
- In a circular motion, mix to make sure all the sugar is wet
- Once it turns an amber color, add in the butter and mix
- Then add in the cream smoothly and then keep mixing
- Add in the salt and combine then take off the heat once you have your desired consistency
